When simplicity meets fashion in music videos... (Part 2)

"HURTS" continue to surprise and thrill us with their new song called "Stay" which refers to an unfulfilled and unconfessed love (if you pay attention to the lyrics):

And though I tried to tell you that I need you, here I am without you

A really beautiful song that screams "STAY!!" to your beloved one...

Hurts - Stay

* Simplicity and minimalism consist the dominant theme once again in this music video. As you may have noticed, pale tones (such as grey, green and cream) underlie the whole senario and direction, in which an "earth motif" is detected. The reason why this motif exists is that this video contains three basic earth elements: Sea, Wind, Rocks!



* As far as the dancers are concerned, I have to say that in my opinion they must represent group's consciousness when they sing (do the vocals) : "Stay... stay"! They are something like HURTS's muses that's why they appear in almost every video. Through their dance they support the lyrics of the song. In addition to this, the wind that blows their (simple yet chic and pretty) outfits and veils gives a refreshing touch to the scenery ...

* The main theme: LOVE!!!

I hope that "Hurts" will keep on doing such a great music and videos so that we will have the chance to enjoy their beautiful and inspired work...

When simplicity meets fashion in music videos... (Part 1)

Few words can describe the band "HURTS" (an indie electronic group from Manchester) such as elegant and enigmatic with sharp suits, slick hair and stark visuals! Their hit "Wonderful Life" from their debut album "Happiness" made them famous and spread their music all over the world!

I'm a big fan of their music and I can't help but admire their style which is a result of their philosophy of life! You will understand about what I am talking about ... in my notes below :)

"Wonderful Life" is certainly in my mp3 because I'm addicted to this song, but when I saw its music video my reaction was something like: "Oh wow"!!! It's simple yet so inspired..I couldn't stop watching it over and over! That's why I took some notes to share with you so that you will grasp my point ;)

Hurts - Wonderful life

1) As "Hurts" say "Simplicity is the most important thing in life. Simple but powerful." and it's pretty obvious that they follow their moto in every aspect of their life! The whole music video is based in minimalism and simplicity so that the emphasis will be given to the song, the main characters and the story behind the lyrics!  The house, the pool, the colors, the senario, the direction, the outfits scream simplicity!

2) About the story : "It's basically based on two extremes: the first being a man who wants to kill himself and the second being love at first sight. He's standing on the bridge about to jump and he's stopped by a woman. They see each other and fall in love. She basically says, 'Come with me, it's all going to be fine'. It's a story but it's also about us ("Hurts") wanting to be saved."

The disappointed man is devastated about the end of his relationship or perhaps because he has lost his beloved girl...



The photo of his love into the bottom of the pool ..it's something like a small "funeral" ...


* Here there is a white and black motif which can be translated to a "good and bad motif". The  dancers with the black lace dresses represent "widows" that dance and grieve about man's loss so that he will get over it and look at his future with hope. In addition to this, the girls with the white lace outfits represent the new love that comes to comfort him and save me him for sadness... 



* Τhe contemporary routine is OUTSTANDING ...The dancers move in a really expressive way (in and out of the pool) to grieve and show us the sorrow ...

Fergalicious... idol!

I'm a big fan of Black Eyed Peas since....ever!!!! So, I have to show you why Fergie (the female lead singer of BEP) is one of my favorite style icons....

Firstly, her outfits in their performances (especially in the past) were a great combination of funky and sporty style :

What about her casual clothing? It's simple yet pretty! She chooses skinny jeans or colored skinny trousers with printed T-shirts and leather jackets! She doesn't forget the accessories: sunglasses, hats, leather bags and high heels (of course!) :



When she has a business appointment or an appearance on a TV show, she is still stylish and glamorous :


The left outfit is an Alexander McQueen's masterpiece!!

 

Last but not least, RED CARPET!!! She shines like a true star :

I really admire her sense of style whether it's casual or formal and I get inspired from her daily choices...she is a great fashion influence!
